A number of lawmakers on Saturday accused the Speaker of Parliament of secret financial deals with government ministers to prevent the impeachment of 11 ministers for underspending their government budgets.
MPs said House Speaker Abdul Raouf Ibrahimi had tried to prevent the ministers being summoned.
Although Parliament agreed to summon for questioning 11 cabinet ministers whose ministries did not spend more than 50 percent of their development budgets in 1390 (March 2011-March 2012), they could not agree on what date the ministers should appear.
Some MPs believe Ibrahimi complicated the matter and then cut short the sitting session before a decision could be made.
"There may be some political or financial deals behind this," Khost MP Humayoun Humayoun said. "In the session... Mr Ibrahimi clearly does not agree on impeaching the ministers and tried to change the session into tension."
Ibrahimi refused to speak to TOLOnews on his views over the issue.
