A NATO soldier was killed in an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan early Wednesday, ISAF forces said, though they did not provide details about the exact location of the incident and nationality of the soldiers.
"An International Security Assistance Force service member died following a direct fire attack by enemy forces in eastern Afghanistan today," the ISAF said in its statement on Wednesday.
Most of the US soldiers in the country are based in eastern Afghanistan.
The death brings the number of foreign troops who killed so far this year in Afghanistan to 5.
Foreign troops in Afghanistan are scheduled to leave by the end this year, after this, the Afghan security forces will take over full security responsibility of the country.
There are around 47,000 US troops in Afghanistan helping over 300,000 Afghan security forces fight the insurgency.
