Pakistan closed the Torkham gate Friday after Pakistani truck drivers protested the alleged torture of two drivers by Afghan officials.
Thousands of trucks remain stranded on the Pakistan-Afghan border and seven ill people, who couldn't receive medical attention on time, have died, Afghan officials said.
Meanwhile, the ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement that the ministry and the Afghanistan embassy in Pakistan will discuss the issue with Pakistani officials.
The road is the busiest entry point between the two countries and was closed by Pakistan Friday, after complaints that two Pakistani drivers were intercepted at a checkpoint, tortured and had their passports torn up, according to reports.
The drivers have complained Afghan security personnel routinely engage in harassment and torture of Pakistani drivers and job-seekers at checkpoints within Afghanistan.
