A Teenage girl was shot dead by an unknown gunman in northern Kunduz, local officials said.
Fatima, 14, was shot as she was answering the door in her house in the Imam Sahib District.
"Unfortunately, Fatima, daughter of Abdul Jamil, resident of Shaheed Abad village of Imam Sahib, was killed by an unknown gunman when she was trying to open the door with her father," District Governor of Imam Sahib Amanudin Quraishi said.
Police detained two suspects in connection with the crime, which appears to have been motivated by family disputes.
"One of those detained is the [victim's] cousin who had planned to marry her but her family denied," Sayed Sarwar Hussain, Kunduz police spokesman, said.
Police speculate that the victim's father may have been the intended target.
The current year is the most violent on record for women and girls in Kunduz. About 14 have been recorded killed in various ways over the past year. Fatima is the second girl to be shot in Imam Sahib in the last month.
