The Afghan National Basketball Team lost to India by 46-64 in the Asian Championship final on Tuesday and earned the second place.
Tuesday's match was the first major international basketball challenge for India.
The Afghan team is expected to return home soon. Eight South-Asian countries participated in the Asian Championship held at New Delhi.
The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) will host the South Asian Basketball Association qualifying round for men at the Thyagraj Indoor Stadium in June.
Teams from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, the Maldives, Pakistan, and Bhutan will be participating in the competition.
The Asian Basketball Confederation Championship was inaugurated in Manila in 1960. The Championship is held to find Asia's best team and to select teams for the Olympics and the FIBA World Championship.
This tournament is also known as the Asian Championship.
