The Afghan Ministry of Public Health officials said Tuesday more than 22 million Afghans have been threatened by malaria.
Based to reports, the Nangarhar, Khost, Helmand, Kandahar, Takhar and Badakshan provinces have the highest cases of malaria in the country.
"Totally, 22 million are at risk of being afflicted with malaria, but fortunately, we have implemented some plans to decrease the risk," the Public Health Deputy Minister Abdul Basir Sarwar said.
While international community has strongly committed to help Afghanistan against the epidemic but still malaria is named as a serious threat in the country.
Afghanistan is the fourth between 99 countries with high cases of malaria, according to officials.
Officials said that they will attempt to completely obliterate the disease in Afghanistan in the upcoming two years.
Although, the Afghan responsible officials are making effort to decrease the current figure of malaria cases in Afghanistan, but it is believed that lack of regular plans and poor management have caused malaria growth in the country.
