A Polish soldier was killed in an insurgent attack on troops in eastern Ghazni province in Afghanistan, spokesman of the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command Miroslaw Ochyra said Wednesday.
Captain Krzysztof Wozniak was fatally injured in the attack and died in a military hospital, he said.
Wozniak is the 38th Polish soldier killed serving with the Nato-led mission since 2007 in Afghanistan.
It comes a US soldier died in America from wounds sustained in an insurgent attack last month, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.
Mark Schoonhoven, a 38-year-old Army sergeant, died on Sunday from the injuries of an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on his military unit on December 15.
Meanwhile, joint Afghan and Isaf operations are continuing with two insurgents killed Wednesday in Ghaizabad district of eastern Kunar province during a search for an Al-Qaeda associated Taliban leader, Isaf said.
Also Wednesday, a security operation in Pul-e 'Alam district of Logar province, coalition forces discovered a cache of IED elements, including 600 sacks of ammonium nitrate totaling 30,000 kilograms, 100 paint cans of ammonium nitrate and 6000 meters of electrical wire.
In a separate operation, a Taliban facilitator was captured in Kandahar's Panjwa'i district on Wednesday.
"The facilitator coordinated the movement of weapons and ammunition in the district for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He also provided financial and logistic support for improvised explosive devices and offered a safe haven for insurgents," Isaf said in its operational update.
And a Haqqani facilitator Thursday was captured in the Sabari district of eastern Khost province.
"The facilitator was responsible for purchasing and selling weapons to support the insurgency. He coordinated the movement of improvised explosive device materials and ammunition to insurgents operating in the district," the Isaf statement said.
