Four Taliban insurgents have been killed and as many as two others wounded in an Isaf airstrike in eastern Nangarhar province Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The airstrike happened in the Wazir Pirakhel area of Nangarhar's Khogyani district when Taliban insurgents were at a gathering, district governor Haji Rahman told TOLOnews.
"Two others were wounded in the airstrike but it is not clear whether they are civilians or insurgents," Rahman added, saying the insurgents had been gathered near the house of deceased Taliban commander Mullah Noor Mohammad when the airstrike happened around 3:00PM.
Isaf Joint Command confirmed to TOLOnews the Khogyani airstrike and the death of four insurgents, but gave no further information about the attack.
It comes after Afghan officials claimed Tuesday that 14 Taliban insurgents including three foreigners had been killed and 21 other insurgents wounded in a US airstrike in Nuristan Monday afternoon.
The officials said the strike happened in the Dahan Baz Gul area of Nuristan's Kamdish district.
An Isaf Joint Command spokesperson told TOLOnews that it had no operational reporting of that airstrike in Nuristan on Monday.
