Impunity of high-ranking government officials is the main reason behind violation of the Constitution, head of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission Sima Samar said Wednesday.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Samar accused high-ranking government officials of violating the Constitution and emphasized that anyone who violates the laws should be prosecuted.
"We can neither claim that the law was fully implemented nor that it was completely violated, but high-ranking government officials are mostly involved in violations of the law, and they remain immune from prosecution," Samar said.
She urged president Karzai to prosecute the violators of the law without consideration of their positions.
"Impunity causes violation of the laws. We urge President Karzai to introduce violators of the law to the justice organs without considering their positions," she added.
