Afghanistan's U19 National Cricket Team made the top 8 teams for the 50 Over Cricket Championship after winning to games against Australia and Namibia and suffering only one defeat to Bangladesh.
The match between Afghanistan and Namibia was played on Wednesday in the United Arab Emirates. Namibia started the game and set 192 runs as the target for Afghanistan. The Afghan cricket team met the target in 25 overs to win.
"These victories are not easy, especially defeating Australia, one of the cricket superpowers of the world," head of the Afghan Cricket Board Shazada Massood said.
Mr. Massood emphasized that investing in the athletes more would bring further success for the Afghan cricket program.
Meanwhile, the Afghan public praised the performance of the U19 Team.
"Tears came to my eyes after our team made it to the list of 8 superior teams, after one loss and two wins," a resident of Kabul named Haseebullah said.
The 50 Over Cricket Championship is being held in the UAE with 16 countries participating.
