On Monday, the civil society institutions cited that the fine in the election law is quite insignificant, making it easy for candidates to pay the hundred thousand Afghanis in case of violations in the campaigns expenditure limits.
Based on the election law, the candidates are allowed to spend no more than 10,00000 in campaigns. Going beyond this amount is an undeniable violation of the election law, and the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) is obliged to investigate the issue.

Based on the articles 25th and 26th of the Criminal Procedure Code, family members involved in domestic violence are not allowed to appear as witnesses in courts. However, after the controversy over the issue, the Afghan cabinet decided to refer the legislation to the Ministry of Justice for necessary amendments.
While the legislation awaited President Karzai's signature, human rights groups and civil society institutions voiced strong apprehensions over the article 26th of the draft.
