The Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) has received complaints about some of the Presidential candidates, according to ECC spokesman Nader Mohseni.

Mohseni said that a number of Presidential candidates have violated some of the election rules since the campaigns began on February 2. "These violations will be investigated in an open session," he announced on Tuesday.

The ECC did not disclose the details of the violations, however, there are unconfirmed reports that candidates used government resources and vehicles during their campaigning

President Hamid Karzai spoke out against government interference in the elections this week. He warned all government officials not to get involved in the campaigning in favor or against any candidate.

Karzai has also approved 102 new Provincial Commissioners for the ECC to field complaints from around the country instead of just in Kabul as has been done up to this point.

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has said they will fully cooperate with the ECC in case of any serious problems in the provinces.

"We have offices in 34 provinces, and we are able to share part of our offices with the ECC except our main office in Kabul," IEC Spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor said.

Last week, the ECC said that no complaints had been submitted against any candidates yet, despite raising concerns about the financial transparency of three of the candidates.
