Taliban fighters shot dead a 40-year-old Afghan woman prison guard from Helmand in Pakistan this week, local officials said on Tuesday.
The body of Rabia, a 40-year-old woman, was returned to the province on Monday.
Abdul Ahad Chopan, a Helmand police official, said that she visited Quetta four days ago to meet her daughter.
"The Taliban came and took her from her daughter's home and shot her," he said.
The reason behind the shooting is unclear, he said.
She worked as a guard at the Helmand prison for more than six years.
The Taliban has not yet commented on the incident.
