An exhibition called "Mashq-e-Tawanaee" displaying handicrafts made by handicapped Afghan women opened in Kabul on Saturday. The organizers of the exhibition said the event aimed to open up the market for the handicrafts to be sold.

The exhibition will be open for two days, and is hoped by its organizers to be something government officials will pay notice to.

"The aim is to find marketing for women and girls who are handicapped and also to get the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and government to understand that this class really need support," head of the organizing group - Bright Future for Afghan Women - Zahra Nawrozi said.

Officials from Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs responded for comment and recognized that there were major challenges facing handicapped women in Afghanistan.

"Past efforts for the handicapped were insufficient, there must be more cooperation," Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs spokesman Mohammad Ali Eftekhari said.

The exhibition was organized by Bright Future for Afghan Women in cooperation with the New Beginning Association.
