After four days since the Presidential campaign season kicked off on Sunday, most provinces of the country remain isolated from the Kabul-centered campaigning, leaving residents in the dark.

Although there is still two months before the elections, the gap between the capital and much of the rest of the country when it comes to engagement with the election process has been a major talking point heading into the vote.

"Balkh is one of the leading provinces, election candidates should come here and explain their programs to the people," a Balkh resident told TOLOnews.

The same situation is found in southern province of Ghazni, where only a few pictures of the candidates have been pasted on walls in the city.

"Four days have passed since the election campaigns officially started, but no candidate has launched campaigns in the area," a Ghazni resident told TOLOnews.

"Other than one candidate, none of the candidates even pasted their photos," another resident of Ghazni added.

There is no sign of election campaigns in the northern province of Kunduz as well.

"I think recent snowfall and cold weather has impacted the campaigns," one Kunduz resident speculated.

Nimroz province has also been left waiting.

"We want the presidential candidates to come to the province and find a solution to the public's issues," a resident from Nimroz province said.

"We are really happy about the start of election campaigns," anther local added. But whether or not they will be a part of the campaign trail for candidates remains to be seen.

Based on the Election Law, the Presidential candidates have sixty days to explain their programs and plans to the people before the vote.
