A number of presidential candidates and religious scholars condemned the Friday night attack on the Lebanese Taverna restaurant in Kabul, which caused the deaths of 21 people, including 13 foreigners.

Friday's attack, which included a suicide bombing and then gunpoint executions inside the restaurant, has faced strong reactions from a number of high ranking foreign and Afghan officials, who have called the attack unforgivable.
The Secretary General of the United Nations and foreign policy head of the European Union also denounced the attack, which was claimed by the Taliban and said to have been targeting German diplomatic officials.
All victims of the incident were civilian workers for the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), or simply Afghan, Canadian and British citizens.
