Revenues collected for the 1392 fiscal year missed the government's target by 5 billion AFG, a finance ministry official said on Tuesday.

The finance ministry had set a target of collecting 114 billion AFG, but collected 109 billion AFG, said Mohammad Mustafa Mastoor, deputy finance minister.

Afghanistan's economic growth is down by 7 percent compared to last year, Mastoor said.

Uncertainty regarding the pullout of foreign forces in 2014, a decrease in household consumption, a decrease in trade and lower investment are among the central factors causing the ministry to miss its target, Mastoor said.

"The recent statistics estimate our income to be around 109 billion AFG which shows an increase as compared to the previous year, but the growth isn't in a level which we were expecting," Mastoor said.

In the initial days of the current fiscal year, the ministry had set a target of 123 billion AFG in revenues, though this was later revised down to 114 billion AFG.
