Officials of the Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) said on Monday that the national team plans to go through intensive training in India as part of the preparations for the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Bangladesh in three months.

ACB officials said Afghanistan will participate in two important cricket events in 2014, including T20 and Asian Championship competitions.

"We have been in contact with Indian officials and are waiting for their response, we want to have intensive training in India and if not we will pursue training in Karachi, Pakistan, because financially it costs less for us," said Noor Mohammad Murad, the ACB Executive Director.

The ACB has reportedly been in contact with the Pakistani Cricket Board.

Pakistan is still yet to commit itself to the T20 World Cup in March due to the continuing political unrest in the host nation, Bangladesh.

A Pakistan Cricket Board official told Reuters on Thursday that his organisation was concerned about the situation because many of the protests in Bangladesh were being aimed at his country.

At the moment, the Afghan cricket team is training in eastern Nangarhar province.
