The man who allegedly shot dead a 14-year old girl in Kunduz has been arrested after he was released following a brief imprisonment, the Appeals Court of Kunduz said Thursday, adding that he will be tried in a public court.
Appearls Court officials also said that the suspect was rearrested after news of his earlier release was reported by the media.
"As precautionary measure, we arrested the suspect, named Ahsaam, who was released after the decision by the preliminary trial. He is currently in custody," Wahab added.
The alleged killer is the son of a local warlord and was released by the court due to a lack of evidence. But the girl's father has accused two Appeals Court judges of accepting bribes to release the killer.
Rejecting the accusations, the Court said that the accused was released after a decision reached by a preliminary court, adding that the Appeals Court will examine the case and hold a public trial.
"We reject the accusation that the man's case is at the Appeals Court and that he is released by the Court after it accepted bribes. The case hasn't been sent to the Appeals Court," said Fazel Wahab, head of the Kunduz Appeals Court.
"We will decide the case at a public trial when [the case is] received," Wahab added.
