Five Afghan soldiers were killed and two injured in a traffic accident in the western Herat province Tuesday morning, local officials said.
The incident took in the capital of Herat when their vehicle lost control and hit a truck, said Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, spokesman for the western police zone.
The victims were members of the Rapid Reaction Force on their way to their station, Ahmadi added.
Traffic accidents have increased recently in the country because of freezing road conditions and driver neglect.
