The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Friday announced that the filing of nomination papers for candidates for the April 5 Presidential and Provincial elections would begin Monday.
The IEC said that the information packages for the candidates have already been uploaded on the website of the Commission. Ziaulhaq Amarkhail, the head of the IEC Secretariat, said that the candidates will have three days to obtain all information about the process of filing. The Commission added that the candidates for the Provincial elections would be able to receive information about the process from the IEC's provincial offices.
"The candidates for the Presidential and Provincial Councils' election can obtain information about the nomination process from the IEC website. In the information package, guidelines, eligibility for candidacy, electoral symbol and schedule of the elections have been uploaded to help the candidates," Mr. Amarkhail explained.
Additionally, the IEC said that necessary election materials have been dispatched to the provinces for the candidates of the Provincial Councils' election, and so far, no security threats have been reported.
"So far, we have not faced any security threat while transferring the election materials to the provinces. We hope to conduct the elections peacefully," Mr. Amarkhail added.
The Commission emphasised that the election candidates must submit their documents within the stipulated timeline, otherwise, their documents would not be accepted.
