In a shocking incident, a man killed six police officers in the southern Helmand province early Thursday.
"The incident took place in the Mousa Qala district of the province, when the man was called at a check post by the officers. He shot dead six policemen," the Provincial Governor's Spokesman Omar Zowak said.
"The man fled from the crime scene along with their weapons and a police vehicle," Zowak said.
"The police have started investigating the incident," he added.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Previously, an incident similar to this had happened where a man killed seven police officers in the southern Kandahar province.
The incident took place when the man was invited for dinner by the officers.
