MPs of the Lower House of the Afghan Parliament on Wednesday criticized the country's intelligence agencies and said that insurgency is on the rise because of their incapability.

The MPs added that insurgents always target civilians but the intelligence agencies are proving incapable in preventing those attacks. They believe that the neighboring countries provide support to terror groups leading to an increase in terror attacks within the country.

"Incapability of intelligence agencies is the main cause for terror attacks. Off late, the attacks have increased and intelligence agencies are failing to prevent those attacks," MP Shikiba Hashimi said.

"Those who plan such attacks and consider themselves as 'Muslims', they should know these are un-Islamic acts," MP Shukria Barakzai said.

The first Vice-Speaker of the Lower House, Mirwais Yasini said that the enemies shamelessly target civilians. Hence, they should know that they will never get support from the countrymen.

The Lower House on Wednesday summoned the Defence Minister Gen. Bismillah Mohammadi, Interior Deputy Minister Abdul Rahman Rahman and Operational Deputy of National Directorate of Security (NDS) Dr. Yasin Zia to question them about the increase in insurgency attacks. But House announced that the session will take place without any media presence.

The Lawmakers who were present in the session said that the officials' responses were unacceptable.

"The report submitted by the officials was not satisfactory," MP Obaidullah Kalimzai said.

On the contrary, some MPs praised the officials' report and said that they have achieved a great deal considering the present situation and resources available with them.
"The officials' report was acceptable for some MPs because they cited some great achievements in terms of providing security and fighting insurgency," MP Obaidullah Barakzai said.

The MPs added that insurgency will be on the rise if the Afghan government does not take a clear stand and prepare a strong policy against the terror groups.
