The Journalists Federation of Afghanistan once again on Tuesday accused the Minister of Culture and Information for not implementing his commitments.
The members of this Federation said that the Council of Scholars, several conservatives inside the parliament and the Minister of Culture and Information are trying to limit media's activities.
The Journalists Federation of Afghanistan added that based on the law, the Commission of Mass Media should replace the Media Violation Investigation Commission.
The Journalists Federation of Afghanistan once again accused the government; especially the Ministry of Culture and Information for pressurising in different ways so that the Mass Media Law does not get endorsed.
Sediqullah Tawhidi in charge of free media watchdog in NAI association said, "This Commission which has been considered in the law has been approved twice and it must be indorsed now."
The members of this Federation said that the Minister of Culture and Information had previously pledged in the Parliament that soon the Media Violation Investigation Commission will cease to function but still this Commission is continuing to work, which is illegal.
Zia Bomia, in-charge of South Asian Media Association in Afghanistan said, "Whatever has been drafted by the Commission is illegal and they have prevented the establishment of Mass Media Commission, which is an unprofessional behavior."
Ahmad Saedi, a political expert said, "The government and Ministry of Culture and Information are trying to have dominance over the media."
Despite all this, there are growing concerns over the increasing challenges for the journalists to work freely before the upcoming Presidential elections and withdrawal of the foreign forces from Afghanistan.
