A police Commander and police officer joined the Taliban insurgents in western Farah province Friday, local officials said.
"A police Commander in Bala-blok district and a police officer carrying a Humvee and other weapons on Friday have joined the Taliban group," Provincial Police Spokesman Fawad Askari said.
"We had sent a delegation to the district for investigation, the reports said that the Commander and a police officer have joined the Taliban," he said.
"The reason for the Commander's action is not clear," he added.
The Taliban have not commented about the Commander until now.
The Bala-blok district is extremely insecure in the province and the insurgents frequently target the local security forces' check-points.
