Four months have passed and the Chapa Dara district of Kunar province is still under siege of the Taliban.

The Head of Provincial Council of Kunar province Meya Hassan said that the district is still under siege of the armed opposition group (Taliban) giving rise to some serious security threats.

Meanwhile, local officials of Kunar province said that with the arrival of summer season, the activities of the armed rebel group will increase. Despite this, the Afghan National Security Forces will keep all counter-measures ready and provide security.

For the past four months, government employees have not been able to enter the Chapa Dara district of Kunar province.

The Head of Provincial Council of Kunar province said that Chapa Dara district is facing numerous security challenges and nobody can enter the area.

He added that the Government should station National Army staffs to ensure security and also pave the way for good governance in this district.

Meya Hassan said, "All government officials have escaped to Jalalabad or Kabul. Some people have been forced by the Taliban to fight for them and if they refuse they are killed. I urge the Government to send National Army and the Afghan Local Police to this district."

Meanwhile, the Kunar Provincial Governor Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi confirmed the issue and assured that the security challenge will be soon dealt with.

The Provincial Governor said, "The activities of the Taliban are increasing and the security situation is being taken care of in the province. We are facing problems only in the Chapa Dara district."

Off late, the Kunar province is experiencing heavy insurgency threats and this is the main reason for insecurity within the region.

According to the Kunar local officials, the province has a mountainous terrain and the insurgents are taking advantage of it by using the caves as their hide-out, making it very difficult for the security officials to hunt them down.
