The Nato Defence Ministers will discuss at the Organisation's Headquarters in Brussels about the number of Nato troops and trainers that need to be stationed in Afghanistan post 2014.

The Nato Ministers during their two-day meeting in Brussels on Tuesday discussed about their mission in Afghanistan and cyber defense.

On Wednesday, the participants will focus on the progress made by the Afghan mission, specifically the ongoing security transition and planning for the new mission to train, advice and assist the Afghan forces post 2014.

The meetings will be chaired by the Nato Secretary-General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

However, the Nato officials have said that the new mission's resolute support reflected the continued commitment of Nato and the global fraternity towards Afghan peace. They promised that the war-torn country would not be left alone post 2014, when foreign combat troops withdraw from the region.

The Afghan Defense Minister Gen. Bismillah Mohammadi, European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and UN Secretary-General's Special Representative Jan Kubis are expected to attend the meeting.

The Afghan forces are due to assume full security responsibility by the end of 2014, after the foreign combat troops leave Afghanistan.

There are around 66,000 US troops in Afghanistan helping over 300,000 Afghan security forces fight insurgency.
