Habibullah Ghalib, Minister of Justice presented a draft seeking a revision of pay of the President and other high ranking officials of the Government in the Lower House on Wednesday.

According to the draft, the President, Vice President, Head and members of the Supreme Court will continue to enjoy the privileges even after their term ends.

Meanwhile, a number of MPs raised their voice against the draft and said that it has not been fairly made. The Minister of Justice said, "According to this draft there will be a deduction in the salary of those advisors and government officials whose income is between $30,000 and $50,000."

The Government had sent a draft of the law to the Lower House for approval.

It is being said that in this draft besides other privileges for the President, Vice Presidents, Head and other members of the Supreme Court, perks like home rent, guest's reception, car, driver, guards, assistants, secretary, chef and gardener have also been specified.

Ramazan Bashardost, Member of Parliament said, "In this draft, salary of the President, Vice Presidents, Head and members of the Supreme Court is very high compared to the ordinary government employees, and this is not fair."

On the other hand, some MPs have asked for more privileges for themselves in the Law. Presently, each MP receives about 200,000 Afghani as monthly salary along with other privileges but the MPs demanded that their perks and salary must be equivalent to that of a minister.

Salary and privilege revision bill for the MPs had been drafted and tabled several times but it was rejected by some MPs.
