Afghanistan's Interior Minister, General Mojtaba Patang said that lack of police force is a big challenge for maintaining the security and stability of Afghanistan post 2014.

General Mojtaba Patang, at a press conference in Kabul said that the absence of an efficient system, especially the training section of the Afghan Police is concerning.

As 2014 approaches, the need of having equipped and sufficient police force, which will stand tall against all odds post 2014 when the foreign forces leave Afghanistan, is increasing.

"We want to develop an efficient training and education centre for the police. This will help in establishing a durable and capable police force," General Mojtaba Patang said.

Meanwhile, the Kabul Police Chief, General Mohammad Ayub Salangi expressed concerns over increasing police causalities in Afghanistan. He said that 5 to 10 police personnel lose their lives daily across the country.

General Mohammad Ayub Salangi added that some Government officials are illegally intervening into police affairs.

Political transition and security transition are the two main changes that Afghanistan will witness in 2014. Whether the Afghan security forces can fill all the security gaps in the country, time can only tell.
