Afghanistan Under-19 Cricket Team Wins Elite Cup

Afghanistan's cricket team won the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Elite Cup title for the second continued time on Saturday, qualifying for 2014 world cup.

In the final match of ACC Elite Cup, Afghanistan Under-19 team defeated the United Arabic Emirates by 10 wickets and won the Elite Cup.

The UAE won the toss and was elected to bat first. The Afghan bowlers took all the UAE's wickets in 27.2 overs with a target of 58 runs.

Afghanistan Under-19 cricket team won all its matches and defeated Malaysia in the semi final of the matches.

Afghanistan reached the target in 11.1 overs with 10 wickets to spare.

Afghan bets men Hashmatullah Shahidy and Rahim Mangal opened and closed the batting, with Hashmatullah making his fifty and being named Player of the Match.

The wicket takers from Afghanistan were Ziaurahman with 4 wickets, Hashmatullah Shahidy with 3, Sayed Shirzad and Zahir Shehzad with 1 each.

In the meantime, Afghanistan under-19 cricket have also qualified for the International Cricket Council (ICC) U-19 World Cup 2014.

The ICC U-19 World Cup was initially staged as a one-off event in Australia in 1988, but he tournament was restored a decade later in 1998. It has since been held once every two years.

The Asian Cricket Council Elite Cup took place in Malaysia.
