Afghanistan's presidency and foreign intelligence agencies should provide clarification on the cash which secretly reached Afghanistan's presidential palace, Dr Abdullah Abdullah said on Wednesday.

Head of National Coalition Party Dr Abdullah Abdullah said that both sides should answer about the cash that has been paid. He believes that the cash paid by US and British intelligence agencies have been used personally in Afghanistan.

"I believe that the cash was used in benefits of persons and groups. The presidency and the agency which has paid money should answer to people," Dr Abdullah told TOLOnews.

Head of national coalition party added that if the cash was legally paid to Afghanistan then why didn't the financial organizations know about the issue.

Meanwhile, a number of parliamentarians say that the issue should seriously be prosecuted, as they consider it treachery.

"This is the responsibility of the parliament to try the president and vice presidents in a special court based on the Constitution," MP Shikiba Hashimi said.

"The finance minister would be informed if the cash is legally paid," another parliamentarian, Nilofar Ibrahimi, said.

"Receiving money from intelligence agencies of other countries is a national treason," MP Ghulam Sarwar said.

The comments come as recently, the New York Times in a article revealed that Afghan President's Office had received money from CIA since several years. After that the Guardian also wrote that the British Intelligence Agency the MI6 also paid cash to the Afghan Presiden's Office. According to the reports, the CIA money was paid in a bid to purchase influence within the Afghan presidential palace, and the MI6 cash was said to have been paid to the president's office to facilitate talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
