Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on Thursday said that Afghanistan still needs foreign workers in professional fields.
The ministry says that although there is an increase in Afghan workers' capacity compared to last year but still there is a need to hire foreign workers in professional fields.
The ministry says that due to lack of Afghan professional workers in different fields, they have legally permitted foreigners to work in Afghanistan in the last 7 years.
"We still need foreign workers in fields where Afghans do not have enough ability or no ability," Hossamuddin Hamrah deputy minister of Labour and Social Affairs told TOLOnews.
At present, more than 17,200 foreign workers have received work permits in Afghanistan, he added.
In the mean time, many of parliament members say that the government has not provided necessary opportunities to professionalise Afghans in various fields in the past eleven years.
"In the past ten years the government could not provide education opportunities for Afghans in professional fields, so that our own Afghans could be hired in professional fields," Ubaidullah Ramin parliament member said.
The deputy minister says that currently there are a number of Afghans in non-professional and semi-professional fields but in professional fields there is a need for more foreign workers to be hired.
