A Taliban leader Abdul Zahir and three other insurgents were killed in separate operations of Afghan and Nato troops, Isaf said.
"Afghan and coalition security forces confirmed today the death of a Taliban leader, Mullah Abdul Zahir, during an operation in Nahr-e-Saraj district, Helmand province, Monday. Zahir oversaw IED emplacement operations throughout Nahr-e-Saraj," Isaf said in a statement Wednesday.
He was directly responsible for arranging large shipments of weapons and IED components into Helmand province for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He has also participated in assassinations against Afghan National Security Force members and provided intelligence to senior Taliban leaders, it said.
It comes as, two insurgents were killed in a joint operation in search of a Taliban leader in Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province, yesterday.
The leader is believed to be responsible for purchasing and distributing improvised explosive device components to other Taliban members, participated in IED and small arms fire attacks against Afghan and coalition forces, and provided intelligence to senior Taliban leaders in Helmand province.
Meanwhile, another insurgent was also killed in a joint operation in search of a Taliban leader in Nahr-e-Saraj district, Helmand, yesterday.
The leader is believed to oversee improvised explosive device emplacement operations throughout the district. He is known to arrange large shipments of weapons and IED components into Helmand province for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
He has also participated in assassinations against Afghan National Security Force members and provided intelligence to senior Taliban leaders.
