At least five children were killed in a roadside bomb blast in southern Afghanistan Tuesday, local officials said.
Four children were killed in a roadside bomb blast in Maruf district of Kandahar province, while they were playing in the area and a roadside bomb went off, provincial governor's spokesman Jawid Faisal said.
"Four boys, aged between 4 and 10, were killed when a landmine planted by the Taliban went off in the Raski area of Maruf district," he said.
The victims were members of a family, he added.
It comes as, another child was also killed in a roadside bomb blast in Marjah district of Helmand province, yesterday evening.
The incident happened in the district, while the child was playing and a roadside bomb went off, provincial governor's spokesman Mohammad Omar Zowak said.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for both blasts.
Insurgents use roadside bombs to target Afghan and Nato troops, but most of the victims are often civilians.
