An Afghan Police Soldier killed three fellow soldiers and wounded another of his colleagues in Faryab province last night following which he escaped to a village where he killed a Taliban commander and himself, Security officials said Tuesday.
The soldier attacked his colleagues on Monday night in a police checkpoint on Herat- Maimana highway after a verbal clash broke up among the soldiers, Security officials told TOLOnews.
Meanwhile, a Taliban's spokesman has claimed responsibility, saying that the man was hired by the group.
On the other hand, Farayab police commander Nabi Jan Mullahkhail dismissed Taliban's claims and said that the incident happened due to personal enmities and the victims are his own relatives.
Faryab police commander Nabi Jan Mullakhail said that the soldier's name was Allauddin and he had joined police forces two years ago.
"His name was Allauddin and he joined the police two years ago. And due to personal enmities, he killed three of his cousins, injured his uncle and fled the area. Then he went to a village near the check post, killed a Taliban commander Maulawi Zaman and wounded another Taliban man. After that he shot himself, too," Mullahkhail told TOLOnews.
Taliban's infiltration of the Afghan security forces have been a major concern in the recent years.
It comes as Afghan security forces are to take full security responsibility by the 2014.
