The Taliban have cut off hands and feet of two workers of a private escort company in western Herat province Saturday, provincial officials said.
The wounded men – who are currently hospitalised in the regional hospital of the province – have said that the Taliban kidnapped them from Rubat Sangi district of the province around 20 days ago, but released them following a drumhead court-martial which decided for cutting one hand and one foot from each.
The Taliban had asked the workers to stop working for and burn down the company for which the group put an reward as well, the victims said.
"They told us 'Why are you working for the escorts? We catch the escorts and burn them down. You should place a barrel of mines in the company to set it on fire.' They told us they would reward us for it," said one of the victims, "but I told them 'I don't want the reward, I am a worker, that's all.' They said it couldn't go on like this...took us and kept us for twenty days...and then finally cut one hand and one foot of us each yesterday."
Another victim said "I told them to stop but they didn't hear and cut my hand and my foot. A wagon came later, took us home, and then I was brought to the hospital."
The spokesman to the regional hospital has told TOLOnews that the victims are under treatment.
Some reports suggest that the Taliban caught the victims in accusation of some theft, head of Herat security department Abdul Hameed Hameedi told TOLOnews.
It comes as the Taliban shot two men dead in accusation of robbery in Oba district of Herat province.
