The Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) has issued up to 100 investment licenses for the next two years to new investors with the most popular investment sectors being agriculture, industry, and mines.

AISA chief Wafiullah Aftakhar on Saturday said that the fresh investment interest comes on the back of a bold new plan to attract investors, including offering tax exemptions and free land.

"About 80 to 100 investors have been issued license in the fields of agriculture and mines and have already started to work," Aftakhar said. "This is encouraging for future investors."

According to Aftakhar, the new AISA offer - which is still to be approved by the government - gives free land, zero tariffs on raw materials, and tax exemptions for the next decade to those who invest $1 million or more the next two years.

Aftakhar said he is hopeful that the offer will be approved soon by the government.

The office the administrative affairs said that the draft is pending approval from the Council of Ministers.
