Afghan boxer Baaz Mohammad Mubarez returned to Kabul Saturday after defeating his Egyptian rival Haitham Tantawy in the Super Fight League (SFL) in India on Friday night.

The match, which was held in Mumbai, brings Mubarez a step closer to winning the SFL belt out of boxers from 16 other countries.

He has another three fights to go before he qualify for the match for the belt.

"After I beat my Egyptian rival, the heads of the competition know me as a great athlete and they said that I will face with four other athletes from the other countries soon," Mubarez said Saturday.

The boxer was welcomed by hundreds of fans on his return to Kabul.

The SFL was founded by celebrity entrepreneur and IPL cricket team owner Raj Kundra and Bollywood megastar Sanjay Dutt in January 2012.

It aims to give Indian mixed martial artists a platform to compete and grow in its home country while inviting fighters from different parts of the world to compete with them.
