Four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and several Taliban insurgents have been killed in a clash in northeastern Kapisa province on Tuesday morning, local officials said.
Two other soldiers have been injured.
The clash broke out yesterday morning in the Tagab district when Taliban insurgents attacked an ANA convoy, provincial police chief Abdul Hamid Arkin told TOLOnews.
"The clash continued for several hours as more security forces arrived in the area. The forces have launched a clearing operation in the district to clear it of all insurgents," he said.
Several insurgents have been killed or injured in the ongoing operation which Arkin expects will continue until Friday, he said.
There were no civilian causalities during the operation, he added.
Tagab district is considered insecure in the province with insurgents frequently targeting local troops.
